Hello everyone :)

I have to make a decision soon, about which university's offer to choose for my Management master, and I could really use some advice.

I have two offers who made it to the 'finals' for me - Lancaster and Durham. I've been going through tons of university league tables, both for overall rankings and for the subject of Business/Management, and it's quite clear that none of those unis/masters would be a bad choice, however I want to make an as much as informed decision as possible, taking into account a few factors:

- I'm not sure whether, when doing a postgrad course, what matters more is the overall ranking of the university, the ranking of the department or the ranking of the particular masters programme you're in. Specifically, here's what I find confusing: while Lancaster clearly is good by all three 'criteria', Durham is only outstanding in its MSc Management programme (and, of course, overall), but the Durham Business School seems to be well below average. I assume that rating refers to the undergraduate level, but even so, this can't be a good sign for postgraduates either

- I know Lancaster offers the possibility of doing an internship during the three-months dissertation period. Durham does not. Is that important enough to base a decision on it?

- what makes the decision harder is that my girlfriend and I really want to be in the same place; she'll be doing an LLM (Law), and for her, as it turns out, Durham is clearly a better choice

- finally, I know both towns are small and we're both perfectly fine with that. We might prefer Lancaster because it's considerably cheaper to live in than Durham, from what I understand.

Thanks for reading all this, I'd really appreciate your opinions! :)
