Euthanasia - Facts and figures?
I have a long term project based on the arguments for and against Euthanasia. I would like to include some opinions. :)
So what do you think of euthanasia?
I think it should DEFINATLY be legalised. If I get to a point in my life where I can't move my limbs and need to be sponge bathed by a 20 year old bloke who lives with his mother, then I would be picking a knife up with my teeth and trying to lunge it into myself.
So basicly yeh. I approve of it.
Well I have a very strong interest in Medicine and within Medicine it is almost universally frowned upon, however in my opinion I do support it, in certain circumstances for instance when you get to a stage where you are in pain all the time or unable to move or do anything to me it seems cruel to prolong a life. However there are massive challenges to use it as doctors could have to much power and it is hard to see it legal in the UK after the Harold Shipman case.
I think people should be able to choose when and how they will die.
What is the point in living if you were to be stuck in a house with no-one you know, getting sponge bathed, having to wear a diaper, and being completely miserable?

Is upport it in certain circumstances- e.g. when the person is in a lot of pain and is terminally ill. But I think that it would be difficult to legallise because who would be the one to kill the person and how would it be regulated?

Doctors approval only from the patient or a significant other: A partner the person has been with for a long time, or their parents/siblings

Kill!? I see it as saving someone.

True. Saving in the fact they wont die sh*ting themselves and lying in their own p*ss.

Fine, but would you do the killing yourself? If you believe in it, then surely you would be prepared to do it yourself.

why not?
Like I said, it is saving someone from a life of continuous pain and misery.

Yeh, if someone asked me to kill them because they couldnt do anything for themselves, I would do it.
Euthanasia is a topic I take very seriously and I'm sure one day I'll be the one facing it. But basically, I think that the only people making the decision on whether a patient should live are:
1. Family and Friends of person in Question.
2. A qualified Doctor who understands the situation fully.
But, even then... now in this day and age family, friends and doctors can't be trusted... Doctors can be bribed... family might want to get their hands on life insurance/trust funds and friends may just want them dead because they are annoying.
We have a very screwed up society. Lol

what does that have to do with Euthanasia?
If someone is clearly brain-dead, then should his life be ended. That is the question.
I'm agree with euthanasia. Is it possible it should do a patient. If he or she can hear or read, they should write or say, about possibility of euthanasia, and doctor can lie down on lips the pill, and if the patient will be decided can swallow it or expectorate it.
If it is not possible, they should write or say about possibility of euthanasia, and make a special comission, other people than family or friends and, say for example - if u close up your eyes 5 times quickly, it mean that you are agree with your decision.
The decision about euthanasia should say somehow patient.
